What are the most searched-for apps? The following table shows the top 10 search terms on AppBrain.com over the whole year:
Half of these search terms are for very popular Android apps. It is very interesting to see that the generic search terms are for apps which are focused on customizing the Android phone, eg live wallpaper, widget and launcher.
Also the search for battery shows that there is huge interest in knowing more about the state of the battery and in tools to extend the battery life time.

The success of Angry Birds is amazing, especially considering that “Angry Birds Seasons” just didn’t make it into the top 10 as it was placed at 11.

It is great to see that the most popular phones are quite powerful and run Android 2.1 or higher. This allows to develop more powerful apps for the users and less extra effort for the developers to support outdated platform versions.
Hopefully there will be Gingerbread, dual core, and tablet devices in this list next year :)

Unfortunately not all of us are lucky enough to have 2.2 on our phones. Please don't forget us that run 2.1 and are limited by are phones for upgrades.. please have versions of Apps that support us too..!

ReplyDeleteIs there any slight chance Fast Web Installer will work again one day? That was my absolute favorite part of AppBrain that I could search for apps from the web site, click install, and the next time I pick up my phone it's installed and ready to go. There's so much lag loading AppBrain, clicking refresh, clicking the app, going to the Market, clicking install, going back to AppBrain, waiting for it to install, refreshing AppBrain again....
ReplyDeleteI would also love to see a search function in the wallpapers section and more categories (themes). If I'm looking for something space-related I don't want to have to click through pages and pages of cars, landscapes and sports trying to find what I'm looking for. Also tags and categories should be required every time someone uploads a wallpaper so we can search for them better. Then I would have no reason to ever search for wallpapers any other way.
....even better would be if the wallpapers worked with Fast Web Installer (instead of having to click refresh in AppBrain).
Will we ever get a detailed and sincere explanation on why exactly was the Fast Web Installer functionality disabled? Why we now have to sync new downloads manually? That was a great feature that is now sorely missed by many (although it sometimes still works...at least for me).
